The Future of CountABILITY.
Hello Sigma Lovers!
My name is Rashid, and I am the principal developer behind CountABILITY. As you may have noticed, updates to the site and the app have been few and far between over the last year or so. This app is maintained for free by an extremely small team and unfortunately these types of lulls can happen from time to time. That said, I am writing this post to let you know that the recent lull has nothing to do with a lack of enthusiasm or ideas for this application. As a matter of fact, nothing could be further from the truth.
The project started as a combination of a favor to a friend and frustration with counting apps in general. I am a software developer by trade and most counting apps seemed to be more experiments in entering mobile development — and discovering the bottom bar for app store acceptance — than serious efforts. It is my hope that CountABILITY has come across as a serious, professionally designed app that is differentiated and provides value. If the feedback we’ve gotten from worldwide markets is any indication, that would appear to be the case.
I have spent a fair amount of time working on a cross platform version of CountABILITY which I still hope to have out no later than the end of Q2 2015. In addition to that we have a number of new features in mind that we hope will justify people wanting to pay for CountABILITY. Before you close your browser in disgust, let me assure you that we are committed to a free version of CountABILITY but we’ve got some ideas that will require infrastructure investments and we would like to be able to take this project seriously in order to provide an experience that far outstrips the competition. Making money goes a long way toward sustaining the effort. Our goal with this push is to create functionality to make CountABILITY the undisputed best counting app in the world.
A preview of that we have in store:
- Cross platform clients
- Detailed counter data export
- Cloud hosted counters
- Better sound design
- Counter synchronization across multiple devices
- The ability to increment multiple counters
- Speech and voice commands
- Better analytics
Until then we ask for your patience, and hope that when CountABILITY Pro launches later this year you will find a product that far exceeds your expectations for quality and functionality. Please feel free to send an email to support@countabilityapp.com with your feature suggestions and bug reports.
We dearly value and appreciate your support,
RZM
